Brantley Gilbert’s brand new album, Tattoos, will be out this Friday (9/13), and Brantley says he and his producers not only wanted to tell the story of the latest chapter of his life, as each of his albums has in the past, but they also wanted to make sure they were writing or finding the ten best songs for the project, even if they weren’t all completely autobiographical for Brantley.
Brantley Gilbert – Tattoos is a mixture :39
“This album’s different in a lot of ways from albums that we’ve released in the past. Every one of my albums up to this point has had a spiritual or faith-based title. A lot of my tattoos are spiritual and faith-based. All of my albums, to an extent, are a snapshot of my life. In the past, they’ve been chronological chapters of my life, where I used to tell people, you want to know me, just put my albums on, listen to them front to back and you’ll have a pretty good idea who I am and where I stand. And that’s still the case. This was just more so of a project where we picked the right songs and the best songs in those spaces. So, it’s a little bit of a mix between a chapter of my life and just the best song for the spot.”
When it came to writing and recording songs for Brantley Gilbert’s brand new album, Tattoos, Brantley says, not only were some of the subject matters in the songs a bit nostalgic, but their entire approach to writing and producing the songs.
Brantley Gilbert – Tattoos favorite album :34
“I’ll be honest with you, this is one of my, if not my favorite record that we’ve done in years and years. There’s a little bit of nostalgia to it. You know, we took a step back and picked up some of the trademarks, some of the fingerprints that we had on previous records, which is super cool to do at this stage in my career. We went back to some old writin’ procees on a few of them and just kind of went back to the drawing board and had some fun. And then the rest of the album’s the new way, the stuff we’ve been doing just grindin’ harder. And I really am proud of this one. This is one of those albums that doesn’t have a weak spot in it. I’m extremely proud of it and can’t wait for folks to check it out.”
