(AUDIO) BRANTLEY GILBERT WANTED TO GIVE BLAKE SHELTON THE ABILITY TO SAY NO

CURRENT SINGLE: “Heaven by Then” with Blake Shelton, featuring Vince Gill

These days when an artist wants another artist to sing on one of his songs, it’s often as simple as calling them about it or sending them a text message.  But when Brantley Gilbert knew he wanted Blake Shelton to sing on his latest song, “Heaven by Then,” he wanted to approach it in a way that wouldn’t be awkward if Blake didn’t want to be part of the song.

“I hope he appreciated the way I went about it, cause a lot of guys’ll call personally, and that may seem like the right thing to do – you could just call another artists and be like, ‘Hey man, I’d love to get you on this song.’  But to me, sometimes it’s better to have my people reach out to their people cause if it’s a no, I want ‘em to be able to say no and not feel like they can’t say it to me.  But he jumped all over it and he was cool about this.”

Thankfully, both Blake Shelton and Vince Gill accepted Brantley’s request to be part of “Heaven by Then.”  The song is featured on Brantley’s So Help Me God  album, and will appear on the Deluxe Edition of the album, along with five additional new tracks, when it is released on April 21.
