(AUDIO) BRANTLEY GILBERT WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN HE GETS HIS MEAN STREAK FROM HIS MAMA’S SIDE OF THE FAMILY

CURRENT SINGLE: “Hard Days”

Brantley Gilbert was definitely a lot wilder and rough around the edges when he was younger, and he had a bit of a mean streak, or a tough streak in him, which he always figured he inherited from his dad.  “I knew my dad had a temper. My dad was kinda the wild one,” says Brantley.  “But believe it or not, my parents actually met at Bible college. Meetin’ my dad now you would never know that.”

But Brantley calls his mom his angel, and he says, “My mom’s always worked at a church and still does. And it took me ‘til later in my life – I was like, ‘Well, my dad‘s got a temper, I guess I got my rough side from him. But come to find out, my temper, my mean streak is actually from my mama’s side. It’s also where I got most of the music stuff, was from her side.”

Brantley has discovered some of this information because he says, “I’ve been digging into a little bit of heritage and ancestry and things like that the past few years, so that’s been kinda cool.  I’ll let you know as I learn more.”

It sounds like Brantley might have discovered that he’s got some outlaws or some wild relatives in his family history, on his mom’s side.
