Brantley Gilbert is a pretty straightforward guy when it comes to sharing things like his faith, his sobriety and other personal subjects, but when it comes to politics, he prefers to approach things differently. He says, “As far as politics go, I’m careful about what I say.”
In fact, Brantley indirectly once got some great advice from Kris Kristofferson about expressing his political beliefs. He says, “I was in a conversation with Kris Kristofferson at a show, at Willie’s Picnic in Texas some years back, and somebody had asked him where he stood politically on something, or was talking about an artist or people that do use their platforms to speak on politics. And he said, ‘You know, we’re songwriters. We’re supposed to convey those opinions through our songwritin’.’”
That has always stuck with Brantley, who considers himself the ‘what you see is what you get’ guy, and he says when it comes to sharing his views on politics, “I’m gonna hang with (Kris) on that one.”
Brantley’s latest single, “Hard Days,” is a personal song about appreciating the hard days in our lives because they make us stronger for getting through them, and make the good days that much more special. He co-wrote the song based on the hard days he lived in his life before getting to the sweet days of being a happily married man with two healthy children.
