As a follow-up to his number one duet with Lindsay Ell, “What Happens in a Small Town,” Brantley has chosen to take things up a notch with his new single, “Fire’t Up.” Brantley took a bit of a different approach to writing this song because he says, “As a writer and a player, after a while you have to be careful. You do a lot of familiar things on guitar and a lot of times, your melody lines can get almost repetitive or your licks can get almost repetitive. So, we did a lot of track writin’ on this record and this was a track that Brandon Day brought to the table.”
Track writing involves creating melodies and beats on a computer as opposed to using a guitar or other instrument, and Brantley was instantly drawn to want to put lyrics to this track because he says, “It was kind of rockin’, but it had like a vibe that we’d never done but still had a little hell raiser in there and we kind of just wrote to the mood. And, yeah, it’s a three-minute party.”
You can find “Fire’t Up” on Brantley’s latest album, Fire & Brimstone.
