When Brantley Gilbert’s wife, Amber, was pregnant with their son, Barrett, who is now two-year-old, Brantley says, “I had heard this thing when my wife was pregnant with him, that like babies can hear music.” So Brantley used to joke with her, “Even when you may not be my biggest fan in the world sometimes, I need you to be listening to this music so he knows my voice.”
He made the same request when his wife was pregnant with their daughter. And although Barrett doesn’t necessarily know Brantley’s songs, he recognizes his voice and when his videos are on TV. Brantley says, “He doesn’t really get into a whole lot of the screen time thing, like he’s bored after five minutes, at the most, and he’s ready to go outside, but he loves videos and he’ll see a music video or something with me in it and ‘Dada.’ He just gets excited and he is real close to the screen, you know, it’s precious.”
Chances are if Barrett’s heard country radio anytime soon he recognizes his daddy’s #1 song, “What Happens in a Small Town,” with Lindsay Ell. Brantley will soon be releasing “Fire’t Up” as the next single off his latest album, Fire & Brimstone.
