CURRENT SINGLE: “Hard Days”
This month marks nine years of Brantley Gilbert being alcohol and opiate free. In December 2011 his life was at a crossroads and he was on the verge of losing everyone and everything he cared about, so he sought help to kick his addictions. Now Brantley is happily married with two kids and he actually credits some of his tattoos with helping him to stay sober. “The one on my left side is really the story of my life,” explains Brantley, “and goes through my addiction and the tribulations and trials.”
If you look closely at the tattoo sleeve on Brantley’s left arm, he points out, “I got the devil trying to get on my shoulder over here, and I got two angels – I got one chubby angel with a spear keepin’ him from gettin’ up here. It’s just little things like that that I remember the struggle every time I look at my arm.”
In fact, according to Brantley, “That’s one of the things, people ask me, ‘How are you staying sober?’ And honest to God, this has a lot to do with it. Every time I look down, I see flames and skulls and the fact that I put myself and everybody that works for me through hell.”
It was those trials and tribulations and the struggles with addiction that helped inspire Brantley’s latest song, “Hard Days.” And we just want to say congratulations to Brantley on being free from his addictions for nine years.
