Brantley Gilbert and his wife Amber were on and off again for many years before they finally married.  In some of those off times Brantley dated other people and had other relationships. While most of the relationship songs he writes have been about his wife, she knows some of his previous relationships have inspired Brantley’s songwriting -songs about relationships that weren’t right, or relationships that went wrong – but she doesn’t mind, because she knows those experiences were all part of making him the man she is married to today.

“You know, there’s songs that I’ve started through the years about memories and different things, and I think she respects the fact that it is a broken road tht led here, not to quote Rascal Flatts. But all of that stuff that I went through and all these other relationships did get me back to her. And I learned a lot every time something went wrong and didn’t go right, I learned and it made me better for her. So yeah, we’ll still have songs about a little bit of everything.”
