Brett Young remembers what it was like to be graduating from high school, and all of the excitement and the ceremony, and he knows those are things the Class of 2020 is missing out on this year due to the Covid-19 shutdown. He recently told this year’s graduates, “I know that this has to be a kind of confusing and frustrating time. You’re supposed to be celebrating such a big accomplishment, an important time in your life. And here we are all social distancing and quarantining. But I just wanted to send a quick little message of encouragement. We’re all doing this together. We’re all in this together and there’s gonna be something really beautiful that comes on the other side of all of this. And we will all be together again.”
Most importantly, Brett wants to the Class of 2020 to hold their heads high and know that not getting to walk across a stage in a cap and gown is a bummer, but it doesn’t make the fact that they graduated and less special. He says, “This doesn’t lessen or cheapen your accomplishment at all. You did it. You deserve to be proud of yourselves. Congratulations. See you soon.”
Brett just released “Lady” as the follow-up to his #1 song, “Catch.” The new song is a tribute to his wife, written for his daughter, and it will be featured on a new project from Brett, being released later this year.
