As a first-time father, some people might expect Brett Young to be inspired to write a bunch of songs about his nine-month-old baby girl, Presley, like his current single, “Lady,” but actually, Brett says his co-writers don’t have to steer him away from that subject. “Had this one not been the right song we would keep trying to write the right song,” he explains, ‘but I know (‘Lady’) is the song. This is what I had to say. I meant to say it this way. So, I actually have to fight against songwriters – the opposite. Like, ‘That’s beautiful. I already wrote the song.’ I’m not gonna have 10 songs about my daughter. She gets one and then her siblings will all get one, and it’ll be the right one and luckily we landed on the right one the first time.”
Brett says he is interested in writing about this chapter in his life as a whole, as a husband, a father and a family man, but fans don’t have to worry that his next album will be filled with songs about his baby.
