(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG HAS HIS WIFE TO THANK FOR THE EMOTION IN “YOU DIDN’T”

CURRENT SINGLE: “You Didn’t”

Brett Young co-wrote his latest single, “You Didn’t,” with Ashley Gorley, Jon Nite and Jimmy Robbins, and he admits that for his part, people might be surprised where his mind went to channel the emotions of heartbreak and lost love he sings about in the song.

Brett Young – You Didn’t Taylor :32

“The place I found myself going was actually when me and my wife broke up for two years after I first moved to Nashville. I found myself going to that break up because there are a lot of hard ways to be broken up with, but I think the hardest break up for me was when the biggest part of me still thought we were meant to be together. And the part where ‘I fell in love and you didn’t,’ not really true. She was in love too, but that’s what it feels like when you’re not the one leaving. And so, we wanted to take a gracious approach to it. Not everything is somebody cheating and lying. Sometimes two people aren’t in the same place at the same time, and you can’t really be mad at ‘em and you still care about ‘em so much you don’t want them to feel guilty walkin’ away.”

“You Didn’t” is featured on Brett’s latest album, Weekends Look A Little Different These Days, along with his #1 song, “Lady.”
