(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG IS PRETTY SURE HE’LL WRITE AT LEAST ONE MORE CHILDREN’S BOOK

CURRENT SINGLE: “You Didn’t”

Last year, Brett Young released his first children’s book called Love You, Little Lady, which was inspired by the hit song “Lady” he wrote for his two and a half year old daughter Presley before she was born.  At the time, Brett thought he would be a one and done children’s book author, but now he’s thinking he needs to write one more.  Brett readily admits, “The first book wasn’t even my idea. I’m so grateful that HarperCollins came to me with this idea after they heard the song. It was a really fun process.”

One thing Brett learned is that just because he can write a hit song, doesn’t mean he has the skills to translate it into a children’s book, which is why he says, “I’m so grateful that they gave us a staff writer to do that with us because the adaptation would not have come naturally to me.”

Brett got to work on the book with his wife Taylor during the pandemic, and now he says, “I hadn’t considered doing another one until I started thinking about how I owed Rowan, our youngest, a song. I’m like, yeah, I also owe her a book because she’s not represented in the first book either. So, I think that there’s plenty of reason to write a song for Rowan and adapt that into book number two.”

There are no definitive plans for a second children’s book yet, but knowing Brett and how he would do anything to make his little girls happy, we’d say it’s a safe bet he’ll make sure Rowan won’t have to grow up and wonder why daddy wrote a song and a book about her big sister and she got nothin’.

“The first book wasn’t even my idea. I’m so grateful that HarperCollins came to me with this idea after they heard the song. It was a really fun process. You would think that because you’re a writer of songs, you could write a book. I’m so grateful that they gave us a staff writer to do that with us because the adaptation would not have come naturally to me. And the other cool part was that Taylor and I got to do that together, which was great during the pandemic and being kind of stuck at home. I hadn’t considered doing another one until I started thinking about how I owed Rowan, our youngest, a song. I’m like, yeah, I also owe her a book because she’s not represented in the first book either. So, I think that there’s plenty of reason to write a song for Rowan and adapt that into book number two. I don’t know for sure that that will happen, but I would love to do that at some point.”
