(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG LOVES THE BEACH WHEN HE’S NOT ON A SURF BOARD

Brett Young doesn’t have many days off this summer, especially since he’s working on his next album in between tour dates, but when he does get some free time, he says you’re likely to find him at the beach.  “I grew up in Southern California and I was a real beach bum,” says Brett.

Although he admits his activities at the beach have changed because he says, “As I got older I realized that surfing, while it was something that I did my whole life, was something that I wasn’t very good at and I started to get frustrated with. But at the same time I still loved and missed the beach.  And so as I’ve gotten older I realize that just being at the beach, it doesn’t matter what we’re doing, throwing the football or going for a swim, if we’ve got a sunny summer day I’m headed to Newport Beach.”

For now, Brett his spending his summer on the fair and festival circuit, working on his sophomore album and enjoying the fact that his latest single, “Mercy,” has landed in the top five on the charts and looks like it could become his fourth consecutive #1 song.
