Brett Young grew up as a pastor’s kid, and he’s aware of the reputation pastor’s kids sometimes have. “There is a very prevalent rumor about pastors’ kids that we’re the worst kids. And I’ve met a few of those pastors’ kids.”
However, Brett, who grew up singing in church, says none of those rumors apply to him because, “For the most part I was kind of a goody two shoes and didn’t get into too much trouble, and very straight-laced and played sports growing up. So it doesn’t ring true for me, no.”
Besides singing in church, Brett played guitar in his Christian high school worship band and eventually led worship in school. Ultimately that led him to Nashville and the career he has today, with six number one songs and his current song, “Lady,” steadily making its way up the charts.
