The past year has been a bit of a whirlwind for Brett Young, with so many incredible things happening for him, including two #1 songs, so it would be hard for him to pick one favorite moment, but he can identify one of the most memorable. Brett says, “I keep coming back to the first time that me, with a full band, headlined a show. It was Omaha, Nebraska, and it was scary because when you are responsible to sell the tickets you don’t really know what to expect. And we showed up to a sold out crowd. And if that wasn’t enough, we came out and we played my first single (Sleep Without You) first just because we didn’t want to lose anybody. We knew that’s all we had on the radio and we played it first and when we got to the like first lyric, top of the first verse, they were singing back so loud it was hard for me to hear myself.”
After a having his baseball career ended by an injury and turning to his true passion of music, Brett hoped, but had no way of knowing if he would actually be able to make a career of it. So he says, “I think that for me it was maybe the most gratifying moment because that was when I felt like it was connecting. It’s so scary to take on a career like entertainment, or music, or sports, and you know that you’re taking a big risk, and that was the first moment where I thought like, ‘Okay, this might work.”
Based on the growing crowds and the success of his music, it’s safe to say that Brett’s music career is definitely working.
