Brett Young’s latest single, “Catch,” is a play on words about a guy who plans to hang out with his buddies and catch a game, but ends up seeing a girl who catches his attention. We asked Brett if he remembers when his wife Taylor first caught his eye, and he said, “Oh wow! We’re going way back with this one! In all honesty, I was living in North Scottsdale, Arizona, with a good friend of mine who had some publishing and songwriting connections. And I was up one night sitting on Facebook and I happened to come across a page of a girl from my hometown that I knew. And in the picture that she had posted there was this pretty girl.”
Brett did a little digging and found out the pretty girl, who turned out to be Taylor, was his friend’s college roommate. “As we say nowadays, I slid into her DM’s,” admits Brett. “I mean, it was one of those things where it’s as close to, I think, love at first sight as you can get. I don’t know if I believe in looking at somebody and falling in love, but I definitely saw one picture of her and knew I had to meet her. And she made me work pretty hard, but after a couple weeks of pleading my case we had our first date.”
Over ten years later, Brett and Taylor have now been married a year and a half, and they have a beautiful 3-month-old daughter named Presley
