When Brett Young reflects on the last two years of his life, there are several breath-taking moments that he has experienced both personally and professionally. “I think if we’re lucky we have a lot of those moments where you feel like you need to take a minute to catch your breath in life, and love, and career,” says Brett. “I’ve had a lot of those in career in the last couple of years. But when you sacrifice 14,15 years, a lot of time and energy, the payoff feels that much better … You know when you’re that invested and you’ve worked that hard for them they feel that much more gratifying, to the point where literally it will steal your breath.”
While his professional life has been breath-taking in many ways, there is one moment in Brett’s life in the last couple of years that eclipses all others, and it has to do with his wife, whom he dated for a while and then split from for a while, before finally getting back together and getting married. He says, “I think (there is) nothing more incredible than getting your girl back and finally being at the same place in your life and knowing that you want to spend the rest of your life with her and finding out that that’s what she wants too. And I think no matter what we do as artists or in any career or in life, having the right person to share it with is the most incredible. And for me, that absolutely was the most breathtaking moment of my life.”
Brett released his new album, Ticket to L.A., last month, featuring his latest single, “Here Tonight,” and he’ll be hitting the road with Kelsea Ballerini this spring on the Miss Me More Tour, so chances are, he’s got more breath-taking moments in store for him in 2019.
