(AUDIO) BRETT YOUNG WAS A JACK OF MANY TRADES BEFORE HIS CAREER IN MUSIC

Labor Day has a lot of country stars thinking about the jobs they had before music, including Brett Young.  He says, “My first ‘job’ job was the summer before my senior year. I started working construction, and then I went away to college, and then I got the opportunity to go work for this restaurant, but as like, a busboy.  And then I worked my way up to waiter.”

Bartending was also something Brett did while he was in L.A. all the way until he moved away to Nashville. The one thing all those jobs had in common was flexibility.  Brett says, “I think the willingness to do any and everything as long as it provided me the opportunity to still pursue music, I was willing to do any of that.”

Now Brett has six #1 songs to his name and his latest single, “Lady,” which he wrote about his wife for his daughter, is currently climbing the charts.

“My first ‘job’ job was the summer before my senior year. I started working construction, and then I went away to college, and then I got the opportunity to go work for this restaurant, but as like, a busboy.  And then I worked my way up to waiter.  So, anything from construction to waiting tables to bussing tables to bartending even when I moved to L.A. even all the way up until I moved to Nashville I was still bartending in Santa Monica. So, I think the willingness to do any and everything as long as it provided me the opportunity to still pursue music, I was willing to do any of that.”
