(AUDIO) IT TOOK A WHITE LIE TO TURN BRETT YOUNG INTO A BARTENDER MANY YEARS AGO

CURRENT SINGLE: “Not Yet”

Before Brett Young’s music career took off, he was making a living as a bartender out in California, and it turns out a friend of his pretty much lied for him to get him into bartending.  “I knew a guy, he works for a cruise ship company that was taking on a whole ‘nother boat into their fleet. But it needed to be fully stocked and everything.”

In order to enlist Brett’s help with this new boat, his friends said, “I know you’re just a waiter and you’ve never bartended, but if you help me stock this boat – I’m talking chairs, tables, liquor, everything, I’ll just lie to them for you and tell them that you bartended before.”

Luckily, Brett’s buddy was a bartender, and so he threw Brett behind the bar and taught him as he went, and Brett says, “Next thing I knew, I was bartending for weddings that summer.”

Sometimes, the best way to try something new is just to jump into the deep end and figure out how to swim, and fortunately for Brett, he was swimming like a champ in the bartending pool before too long.
