CURRENT SINGLE: “Not Yet”
Brett Young’s daughter Presley is 21-months-old and she definitely knows her daddy’s voice when one of his songs comes on the radio or the TV. In fact, Brett says she’s known his voice since she was born. “My wife was given a gift when she was pregnant with Presley, from, actually Tyler Hubbard‘s wife, Haley,” explains Brett. “They are these things called Belly Buds. They’re like these sticky speakers, like headphones that you can put on your stomach and play music for the baby. And so, that plus her coming to my shows when she was pregnant, Presley knew my voice.”
One way Brett and Taylor realized early on that Presley recognized his voice was when she would cry. “Since she’s been born,” says Brett, “putting my music on will stop her from crying. I’ve never seen anything like it. She loves all music, she’ll dance to anybody’s songs, but if you put mine on she stops in her tracks. It’s almost like she’s catatonic. It’s the most beautiful thing and honestly it was kinda supernatural. I didn’t think it was possible, but she definitely knows daddy‘s voice for sure.”
Brett and his wife are expecting their second daughter any day now, and they’ve been using the Belly Buds with her, too. Hopefully his music will be able to soothe her too when she’s crying.
