(AUDIO) CARLY PEARCE EXPLAINS WHY SHE WAS AFRAID TO SMELL DOLLY PARTON’S NECK

CURRENT SINGLE: “Next Girl”

By now we’ve all seen the video of Carly Pearce being surprised by Dolly Parton with an invitation to become the next member of the Grand Ole Opry.  But Carly recently shared a funny story about what we didn’t see after the cameras stopped rolling.  First, Carly revealed that she was actually crying so hysterically when Dolly told her she was going to be the next member of the Grand Ole Opry, that they had to stop filming for about 20 minutes until she could at least get her crying under control enough to finish talking to Dolly on camera.

After the cameras stopped rolling, Carly says, “I had tears everywhere and like, snot everywhere because I was crying, and (Dolly) walked over to me and she had her new perfume in her hand, and she said, ‘Honey, do you want some of my perfume?’ And then she goes, ‘Smell my neck.’”

Carly laughs when she thinks about the state she was in at that moment, and what a mess her face was.  She says, “I was like, ‘Dolly, I have just cried for the last 20 minutes. I am afraid I’m going to snot on you.’”

Carly got close enough to reveal that Dolly smelled like her perfume and like the queen that she is, and she says, “She handed me her perfume and she just told me that she felt so excited to welcome me into the family.”

Carly will officially be inducted as the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry on August 3rd.
