CURRENT SINGLE: “Never Wanted to Be That Girl” w/ Ashley McBryde
A couple of weeks ago, Carly Pearce was performing in concert in Albany, NY, when she met two girls who reminded her why she pours her heart into her songs and shares her truth in her music. “I saw this sign. It was on cardboard, so it was kinda hard to read, but I just kept feeling like I needed to know what it said,” Carly explained.
The sign was barely as big as a piece of paper and looked like it had been scribbled at the last minute, and Carly says, “This girl kept waving it during ‘Never Wanted to be That Girl.’ So, I finally asked her from the stage, what did her sign say. And it said, we were dating the same guy for two years. Your album saved us. And what she said was, they didn’t even know about each other. For two years they were dating the same guy and now they’re their friends.”
For Carly, sharing that moment with the two girls – Tara and Ashley – was validation that her music is touching people and is making a difference. “It was just this crazy moment where you’re like, oh my goodness, I just am amazed at how this song has connected with people,” says Carly. “And I’m just so proud of what this song is doing and I love Ashley and it’s just so cool.”
