Carly Pearce just released her sassy, 90’s-country-ladies-inspired song, “Next Girl,” last Friday, and people have definitely taken notice of the no holds barred lyrics that Carly co-wrote, warning women about the smooth talking, charming players that are out there just looking for their “Next Girl.”
“I bet he said he never falls this hard
Yeah, I remember that part
He knows how to say all the right things
Knows how to get you outta that dress
Knows how to make you think you’re the best thing
But I know what happens next, girl.”
Carly admits she has been the “Next Girl” and she’s been the girl that got played before he moved onto his “Next Girl.” I think every girl has been on both sides of the story at least once in our life, but I bet quite a few times. And for me, I’ve been single the majority of my life, so I’ve encountered this guy a lot through my life and my girlfriends have encountered him.”
Carly has even spotted these loathsome guys at her concerts. “Girls at my show probably encounter him at my show, or after the show I see girls encounter him at the bar,” says Carly. “And for me, it’s an anthem for girls, kind of like as their big sister, telling them, ‘This guy’s never gonna change.’ It’s the same story night after night, and to watch out for it.”
