CURRENT SINGLE: “Next Girl”
When Carly Pearce wrote her current single, “Next Girl,” she was thinking about her own experiences, but she was also thinking about how all women have had to deal with the guy she sings about at one time or another. “All of my girlfriends have experienced this guy,” says Carly. “I’ve experienced this guy numerous times in my life.”
Even when Carly has been performing on stage, she has seen the “Next Girl” guy trying to use his charm on some of her fans. “I’ve watched girls at my shows in the audience deal with this guy and meet him, and I’ve seen it. And I know that they deal with him after my shows and I know that they’re dealing with them in their own lives,” says Carly.
For the girls who have unknowingly become just another “Next Girl,” Carly says, “I wanted to just kind of make (the song) as real as I could and as honest. But when girls turned it on, even if they were hurting, they could feel so strong and roll their windows down and forget about him for a minute.”
