Carly Pearce and her fiancée Michael Ray have had their bachelor and bachelorette parties and they’ve secured their marriage license, which means the only thing left is the wedding, and Carly says, “It’s funny to me how many people are guessing when our wedding is. Go look at our calendars and see what’s the one weekend of the year that we’re both off,” she laughs. “It’s really not that hard to figure out. It’s very soon and we’re really excited.”
Carly and Michael are each writing their own vows, and despite the fact that she’s a great songwriter, when it came to writing her vows, Carly says, “I found it really hard. I really didn’t expect to find it that hard. I thought, ‘Oh, I know what I want to say. I’m a songwriter. It’ll be great.’ But it was very hard to articulate in a short little piece to this person, where they’ve taken you, what you’ve seen, your promises to them, where you want to go. I mean it was pretty hard for me.”
One thing she and Michael agreed about is that they would keep their vows to a certain length, because she knows, “nobody wants to sit through vow after vow.”
Since both Carly and Michael have a special place in their hearts for the Grand Ole Opry, Bill Cody, the voice of the Grand Ole Opry, will be officiating their wedding, and he has agreed to look over each of their vows, to make sure they are a reasonable length.
While Carly and Michael have been pretty open about their relationship on social media, and have even shared certain details of the wedding, she says, “We’ve tried to keep the wedding private but it’s a celebration. We really are so in love and we’re thankful that we get the opportunity to have people who care about our wedding.”
Carly doesn’t think anyone will show up at their wedding, or camp out near the venue hoping to catch a glimpse of the bride and groom, but she jokes, “If they do, you know, I’ll give them some wine, it’s fine.”
Carly just released her new duet with Lee Brice called “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” which is a very personal and emotional song about broken hearts. The irony is not lost on Carly that both she and Michael Ray have heartbreak songs inspired by past relationships on the radio, during one of the happiest times in their lives.
Carly Pearce – wedding date :22
“It’s funny to me how many people are guessing when our wedding is. Go look at our calendars and see what’s the one weekend of the year that we’re both off. It’s really not that hard to figure out. It’s very soon and we’re really excited. It’s crazy how quickly we went from planning to, ‘Oh my goodness it’s here.’ But I’ve finished writing my vows this past weekend and that was such a sweet moment for me.”

Carly Pearce – “I found it really hard. I mean it was pretty hard for me. I wrote it enough in advance to like be able to edit.
Lee Brice – “You said you got a little emotional when you were writing it.”
Carly – “I did. I kind of had to do it in parts.”
Carly Pearce – length of vows :24
“Michael is a talker. He’s long winded. Love him for that. And Bill Cody from WSM is marrying us. So, we’re going to have him look at both of our vows, but I literally, last night just went, ‘That’s how long mine is,’ from far enough away so that he could get a good idea to make sure his was like on par. Because I figured his would be a little longer. But it’s enough. I’ve looked at enough of my friends’ to be like, okay – not that there has to be like a time limit, but nobody wants to sit through vow after vow.”
Carly Pearce – inviting fans into relationship :29
“I think when we started dating, we knew that this was an odd situation. A lot of my good girlfriends have done it as well – Kelsea and Maren. And so we approached it as, we wanted to invite people into our relationship and into our homes. And we’ve tried to keep the wedding private but it’s a celebration. We really are so in love and we’re thankful that we get the opportunity to have people who care about our wedding. So, we’re taking it as it is. I don’t think anybody will camp out. But if they do, you know, I’ll give them some wine, it’s fine.”
