current single: “TRUCK ON FIRE”
Carly Pearce writes a lot of the songs she records, but she’s also open to recording songs she didn’t write, including songs written or co-written by other artists. On her sophomore album, she recorded songs co-written by Thomas Rhett, Luke Combs, Kelsea Ballerini and Little Big Town’s Phillip Sweet & Jimi Westbrook. For 29: Written in Stone she recorded another song co-written by Kelsea Ballerini, as well as songs that were co-written by Matthew Ramsey of Old Dominion and Ashley McBryde. Carly’s brand new single, “Truck on Fire,” is one she co-wrote with Lady A’s Charles Kelley, and Carly says she loves turning to her famous friends when she’s looking for songs to record because they bring a unique perspective and knowledge to the songwriting process.
Carly Pearce – artists writing for each other :35
“There are some really amazing artists and songwriters and I want to celebrate that. I mean, I love writing songs and I will always be a songwriter, but it was really cool for me to kind of call on my friends that are artists. And I had never written a song with another artist in my life until Luke (Combs) and I wrote. But there’s just something that I feel like artists can bring to the table vocally, artists can bring to the table just from a knowledge of being out on the road and knowing kind of what people want and what people gravitate towards. And I just think it’s really cool to see. And I think you’re gonna see more and more of it with people like Thomas (Rhett) and Luke (Combs) and Kelsea (Ballerini) and hopefully me. I would love to have cuts with other artists.”
