Carly Pearce is an avid runner, but one of her new favorite ways to stay in shape is soul cycling classes, which are essentially high intensity stationary bike classes guided by a trainer, set to driving music. Carly explains how she came to be a soul cycle convert. She says, “It all started, Kelsea Ballerini and I were on tour and she was like, ‘Hey do you want to go to this Soul Cycle class?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t even know what that is, but sure whatever,’ because I only ran. And we did it and I thought we both were gonna die afterwards.”
Soon after, Nashville got a soul cycling studio called Verticity and Carly says, “It’s just been a really good thing I think on my body, on my knees, because running is so hard, but also I’m not somebody who likes to do yoga. I don’t know about pure barre, I’ve never tried it but I want to sweat if I work out and I want to feel exhausted the way that running does. And this class is 45 minutes of just exhaustion. But what’s so awesome about it is they turn it into kind of almost a party because you ride to the beat of the music and so it’s just like a dance club in there. So you don’t feel like you’re working out but I sweat, this is disgusting, but I sweat more in those 45 minutes than I do on a half marathon.”
Soul cycling helps keep Carly in shape for her live shows and it also allows the “Hide the Wine” singer to indulge in her favorite, red wine, without having to worry too much about the extra calories.
