Carly Pearce has two nominations for this Thursday’s People’s Choice Country Awards. She’s up for The Female Artist and The Female Song of 2024 for “Hummingbird,” which is the title track off her latest album. Carly explains the meaning behind the song, which she co-wrote, and why it is so special to her.

Carly Pearce – Hummingbird :34

“Hummingbird is the last song on the album. It is obviously the title track of the album, and it is a very special song to me. I grew up loving Bluegrass Music, Alison Krauss and Union Station and Nickel Creek. They were such big influences of mine, and I feel like this is my little song that kind of feels in that vein. And it’s a poetic way of saying I know what I deserve and I’m not going to settle for anything less. And the last message that I wanted to ring true is that I’m the little hummingbird, meaning I found light at the end of darkness, and I now know more than ever who I am.”

The 2nd Annual People’s Choice Country Awards will air live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville this Thursday night (9/26), at 8pm ET/7pm CT on NBC and Peacock.
