(AUDIO) CARLY PEARCE SHARES THE SONG SHE WISHES SHE HAD WRITTEN

CURRENT SINGLE: “What He Didn’t Do”

Last month at the Nashville Songwriters Awards, professional songwriters and members of Nashville Songwriters Association International voted Carly Pearce’s “Never Wanted to Be That Girl” as one of the annual “10 Songs I Wish I’d Written.”  Carly co-write the song with Ashley McBryde and Shane McAnally, and it’s the second year in a row one of Carly’s songs has been recognized by her peers as one of the “10 Songs I Wish I’d Written.”  “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” which she co-wrote with Luke Combs, Randy Montana and Jonathan Singleton, was chosen in 2021.  If Carly had to choose a song she wishes she had written, one that instantly comes to mind is a Patty Loveless song.

“I always say, if people ask me in interviews, what song you wish you’d written, what song do you wish could’ve been yours, the answer is always ‘You Don’t Even Know Who I Am’.  Because I feel like that song doesn’t need all the bells and whistles. It doesn’t need anything except her voice, that melody and those lyrics.”

Carly’s current single, “What He Didn’t Do,” will be eligible for 2023’s “10 Songs I Wish I’d Written,” and the song which she co-wrote with Ashley Gorley and Emily Shackelton would definitely be a strong contender.
