Carly Pearce’s latest single, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” was written from a very personal and very real experience of hers, so, she wanted the video to be as real and honest as possible. She says, “I wanted to kind of treat it as if we did a day in the life of me versus a day in the life of this person,” whose heart she broke.
The video is a side-by-side portrayal of life after the break-up for her, versus life after the break-up for her former significant other, and Carly says, “I think that’s really real. If somebody is over somebody, and somebody hasn’t quite moved on, it’s a different situation. And I took it as far as inserting my new person into it.”
Carly admits she cried the first time she saw the finished video for “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” because she says, “The ending of it is very bittersweet… My hope, if I ever see this person, is how it plays out. And I think that it ends on a positive note, which is the closing piece of this chapter in my life. I hope that it ends on a happy note.”

“When I did the video for ‘Every Little Thing,’ I said I wanted it to be exactly how it happened. So, when I started seeing treatments for this song, it is as real and honest as ‘Every Little Thing’ was for me, and it is a part of my story. So, I wanted to kind of treat it as if we did a day in the life of me versus a day in the life of this person. So, we do a split screen of kind of how somebody goes through their day and I think that’s really real. If somebody is over somebody and somebody hasn’t quite moved on, it’s a different situation. And I took it as far as inserting my new person into it. Aand the ending of it is very bittersweet. The first time that I saw the music video I cried, just because my hope if I ever see this person is how it plays out. And I think that it ends on a positive note which is the closing piece of this chapter in my life. I hope that it ends on a happy note.”
