CURRENT SINGLE: “Next Girl”
Carly Pearce’s career is in a great place now, with some hits under her belt, a phenomenal collection of songs she just released to rave reviews from both fans and critics alike, and three nominations in the upcoming ACM Awards. But it definitely took a lot of perseverance and surviving some bumps and bruises in her career to get to this point.
Some people may not know Carly had a record deal that she lost before finding a home at Big Machine, and she had to take a job cleaning Air B & B’s to be able to afford to stay in Nashville. And Carly says, “I actually had a lot of family and friends telling me to stay, but I had a lot of the music industry telling me to move home. I literally had somebody tell me, you should play one more showcase and move home.”
And keeping it real, as she always does, Carly says, “When I got a record deal, and I was on my radio tour, it took me a good, probably year and a half to really come out of that state of mind. Because I had been told no for so long, and as a human being you just get beat down.”
Fortunately, God kept giving Carly signs to just hold on. “I really do believe that with every single moment that I got to the end of my rope, there was something telling me, one more day,” says Carly. “Whether it was like a text or an email, or a show would come in, or somebody would write a song with me that I loved, it was just always that little glimmer of, keep going.”
And thankfully, she did.
