(AUDIO) Cassadee Pope Gets Back To Her Roots With Debut Country Album

Cassadee Pope released her debut country album, Frame by Frame, last week but she says what a lot of people may not realize is that this was actually a return to country music for her.  “I grew up singing country music and that is not something a lot of people knew about me,” says Cassadee.  “I sang pop rock through my teenage years.  That’s all I did and that was the phase I was going through but a lot of people missed out on what I went through as a kid.  Because I just never exposed that.”  But she’s thrilled to be an integral part of the country music family now, with her debut single, “Wasting All These Tears.”  “It’s a great time in country music for someone like me to come in,” says Cassadee, “because they’re so accepting to the pop and rock influences.  I mean, from Taylor Swift to Luke Bryan to Hunter Hayes, everybody is doing a kind of different twist on the traditional country sound and I think that’s great that I’m being embraced.  I grew up loving country music.  It’s always been in my heart.  I’m just happy I’m back to my roots but I get to bring back some stuff that I’ve experienced in my recent years.”
