When Nashville aired its winter finale, it looked like there was hope that Deacon Claybourne and Rayna Jaymes might still have a shot at ending up together. While some people think that could lead to less interesting or juicy story lines, Charles Esten, who plays Deacon says, “I actually am not of that camp that thinks if we’re together things can’t be interesting or problematic or dramatic. I mean, I have a wonderful marriage, about 23 years of marriage, and it’s interesting and it can be dramatic and there’s things that happen in life, and that’s from a marriage that’s happy and healthy.”
So whether Deacon and Rayna ever find happily ever after, Charles is certain there will always be plenty of drama in their relationship. Nashville is currently on winter hiatus, but they’ll be returning with brand new episodes beginning Wednesday, February 4th on ABC.
