Will Lexington, Chris Carmack’s character on ABC’s Nashville has had a pretty dramatic story line as a closeted gay country singer trying to build his career while trying to keep his big secret under wraps. Chris says the reaction to his storyline has been pretty positive, but he laughs because he says a lot of times when fans approach him they don’t have anything to say about his character, they just scream with excitement and he says, “[They] pull their cameras out and start taking pictures of me while I have food in my mouth. So, by and large, the response I’m getting is undecipherable.”
Every once in a while though, Chris says, “I do get into a nice little conversation with somebody about the character. More often than not somebody will come up, somebody from the gay community will come up and say, ‘Hey, we just really appreciate you portraying this role’, and hopefully it’s makin’ a difference and helping change people’s perceptions a little bit.”
New episodes of NASHVILLE return to ABC on Wednesday, March 16th.
