Chris Carmack plays Will Lexington on the ABC show Nashville. His character recently came out of the closet as a gay man, and Chris says, “My hopes as a viewer are, obviously, that everything works out for him, that he becomes OK with who he is and he finds somebody special and he lives happily ever after.”
Chris realizes happily ever after is not good for the show. He says, “That doesn’t make very interesting television, so my hopes as an actor is that things continue to go terribly wrong in his life because that means more story to tell. But, in terms of anything specific, I really trust the writers so much with this character and they’re so invested and they care so much about telling the story with compassion and truth that I put myself in their hands and I’m excited to see where they take it.”
