current single: “WHATCHA SEE IS WHATCHA GET

Chris Janson isn’t a big fan of sitting still, which is why his songwriting style isn’t the traditional sit in a room and mull ideas over with his co-writers. He’s also not a fan of over-analyzing a song once it’s finished.

“My attribution to writing is I walk into a room and I never sit down. I pace the floor, I’m smoking a cigar, I’m saying all this kind of stuff. And I’ll walk outside and I’ll come right back in and I’ll give you five lines of somethin’ and then we can just kind of cut and paste from it, you know. We’re not sittin’ there quiet. Like, my biggest pet peeve is sitting in a room quietly with somebody and they’re like, ‘Ahh, I think we can beat that one line.’ The song’s been done for three freakin’ hours, you know. And it’s like, oh my God. I don’t even like it anymore. That is just miserable.”
