current single: “WHATCHA SEE IS WHATCHA GET”

Chris Janson’s latest single is “Whatcha See is Whatcha Get,” and it basically speaks to the fact that Chris is exactly who he portrays himself to be. One thing everyone knows about him is that wherever he is, his wife Kelly is usually not far away. Not only is she his wife and mother of his kids, but she’s also his manager and his best friend. And Chris talks about the first night he ever saw Kelly and knew immediately that one day she would be his wife.

“It’s funny, I was out years ago, it was my second year in town actually. I saw Kelly for the first time coming down the stairs in the pool hall off 8th Avenue in Melrose. She was coming to scout songwriters for her job and listen for songs and just kind of bein’ in the scene. And I was out with a bunch of cats, and I was datin’ another girl at the time, and I saw her come down the stairs. And I’ve never been a type to look at other women, but she caught my eye and I told my friend I was with that night, ‘I’m gonna marry her if I ever get a chance.’ And several years later I did. And just timing, that’s how God works. It was just the timing of the situation just happened to be, and I mean I would have, I guess asked her out years ahead of time, but you know I was always dating girls and runnin’ around being crazy guy. Also, she was way out of my league, still is.  I never thought I’d ever have a chance with her. I don’t know, she just came into my life at the right time, and I came into hers at the right time, I guess, and she completely changed my life. And boy, a love story is it ever. I mean, she’s my best friend.”
