(AUDIO) CONNER SMITH DOES HIS BEST SONGWRITING WHEN THERE’S A NOTE TAKER IN THE ROOM

NEW SINGLE – “Take It Slow”

Most songwriters will tell you they have certain strengths in the writing room with other people. Some are better with lyrics, some with melodies, some are great at production. Connor Smith says his strength in the writing room is coming up with a ton of creative lyrics and ideas for a song, and kind of throwing them out like scattershot. It’s a style that works well as long as Conner is writing with the right people.

“I’m a lyric and I’m the idea guy. So, I work best in the room where there’s a track guy and then there’s an organizer and then me. I work best when I can just throw out 1000 lines, just everything, and there’s someone there to kind of collect it and write it down and organize it. And usually that’s how we get the best songs, cause my brain’s really creative and really all over the place, and so when someone can kinda organize those thoughts for me it always works best. And ProTools (the computer program used to record and produce songs) looks like Japanese to me. So, I couldn’t tell you at all where to start with that, So, I leave the production to them.”
