DEBUT SINGLE – “Learn From It”
There seems to be no shortage of guys in country music who were pretty serious about baseball before they chose music, including Brett Young, Scotty McCreery, Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Jason Aldean. Conner Smith is another guy who thought professional baseball might be his calling, and when he thinks about the number of guys in country music who have that in common, he says, “Yeah, it’s funny. I think country music, the south and baseball all kinda can go in the same box. And so, there’s definitely a lot of country artists and songwriters who have a deep background in baseball, and definitely the same for me.”
One of the perks of being in the “guys in country music who play baseball” is that he got to join a fun team that was formed during the pandemic. “I got to fill-in on the Recoupables softball team,” shares Conner, “which is a team made up of like Hardy and Jameson Rodgers and Adam Doleac. And so, a lot of those guys played college ball and I got to talk to them about it.”
Not only did Conner’s baseball background give him a chance to play with The Recoupables, but the discipline and work ethic he developed in sports have served him well as he’s launched his career in country music.
