CURRENT SINGLE – “Take It Slow”
Conner Smith has made no secret about the fact that Thomas Rhett is one of his biggest inspirations, not only as a performer and a songwriter, but also as a person and a family man. But growing up, Conner also had some other inspirations thanks to the fact that his mom was a television entertainment reporter in Nashville.

“You know, growin’ up in Nashville, my mom, she’d interview artists and interview songwriters. And so I grew up understanding what a songwriter was for one, but also I would get to listen to these songwriters in interviews with my mother talk about how they were writing the songs, and like how they were telling the stories – like these legendary songs, like ‘Live Like You Were Dying,’ or ‘The Good Stuff,’ or ‘There Goes My Life,’ or you know, whatever it was. And I just became fascinated with it. So, these songwriters became these celebrities to me. These guys like Craig Wiseman and Tim Collins, and Rivers Rutherford and Kelly Lovelace and Neil Thrasher. These guys are the guys that I looked up to, just as much as someone looks up to Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney. And so, now to be in rooms with those exact people, get to write songs with these people and kind of creatively have them respect me in a way, is like the coolest thing ever.”
Conner co-wrote his current single, “Take It Slow,” with Mark Trussell, who co-wrote Niko Moon’s #1 song “Good Time,” and Ryan Hurd whose songwriting credits include Luke Bryan’s “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” and “Waves,” plus Lady A’s “What If I Never Get Over You,” Blake Shelton’s “Lonely Tonight,” and Florida Georgia Line’s “Dig Your Roots.”
