(AUDIO) CONNER SMITH HOPES TO CREATE EMOTION WITH LITTLE DETAILS IN HIS LYRICS

NOW STREAMING – “Creek Will Rise

Conner Smith just released his rollicking new song, “Creek Will Rise,” and as with his previous songs, he has a way of including little details in his lyrics that help paint a picture for the listener, with lines like:

Well, we were sittin’ on the truck bed
When it started rainin’, she said, “I don’t mind”
Got her dancin’ in a white sundress
Couldn’t even find one dry thread, my oh my

Conner believes his job as a songwriter is to incorporate those little details that help paint a picture for the listener to help draw out more emotion and relatability to the song.

“I’ve always felt like in songwriting, that the more specific you get the more relatable it gets. Because whether the girl on the date is in a sundress and Chuck Taylors, or she’s in blue jeans and boots, you still have the emotion of what she’s wearing. And you get to paint that picture. And I think that as a songwriter, how do you say the same thing a different way?”

“Creek Will Rise” will head to country radio later this Spring, as Conner’s next single,  In the meantime, he is out on his first headlining tour, the If I Went to College Tour, which has him visiting venues in college towns through the end of April.  Next month he’ll join Chase Rice for some select dates before hitting the road with Luke Bryan for his Country On Tour this summer.
