(AUDIO) CONNER SMITH, THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE OPRY NEXTSTAGE CLASS OF 2022, WILL NEVER FORGET HIS OPRY DEBUT

NEW SINGLE – “Take It Slow”

Conner Smith was recently announced as the newest member of the Opry NextStage Class of 2022, which is meant to spotlight exceptional artists who are on the brink of the next chapter of their music career. It’s a huge honor for Conner because of the love and reverence he has for the Grand Ole Opry.  In fact, when Conner made his Opry debut back in May, after performing “Jesus and Me,” a song he wrote about his great grandparents, he stood on stage for a few moments listening to the standing ovation he was receiving and trying to soak in the moment.

“Standing in that moment, the thought in my head is, like when it’s all said and done, this’ll be one of the greatest moments of my life. To this point in my career, it’s absolutely the best day of my career, the best moment of my career because it signified so much. I mean, it was standing in that circle, from a kid who grew up in Nashville whose greatest dream is to be a part of the history of country music, to get to sing a song I wrote about my great grandparents when I was 14 years old, that my mom told me I’d sing on the Grand Ole Opry when I was 14. And then to stand in that dream, to stand in that moment, to have 60+ family and friends in the crowd and then to receive a standing ovation after getting to speak my great grandparents name on the Grand Ole Opry stage, and just how much meaning that holds to my family, it was unbelievable and just a moment I’ll never forget. I will show my grandkids the video of me singing ‘Jesus and Me’ on the Grand Ole Opry. And I was thinking about all those things, of just how much, when it’s all said and done, this moment will be the moment I come back to and just remember more than anything.”

Conner will wrap up the Thomas Rhett tour this Saturday, October 15, and he will make his NextStage artist debut at the Grand Ole Opry on October 25th.
