(AUDIO) DELTA RAE ENJOYS THE THRILL OF DISCOVERING WHO WILL SING LEAD

Delta Rae is a band that offers fantastic four part harmonies, with each singer capable of singing lead, which can sometimes make it interesting when it comes to who will sing lead on their songs.  According to Ian, who writes the majority of the band’s songs with his brother Eric and other co-writers, “We really sometimes struggle with figuring out who should sing lead on a song because we have four singers in this band, but we wanted to have Liz and Brittany sing the songs on this record because they have just such a natural leadership in our band and we were writing so many songs that we thought were in their voice and it just became more cohesive and exciting to take that point of direction.”

Figuring out the lead and the harmonies on each new song is part of what keeps things interesting within the band.  Ian says, “It’s in a constant exploration. I think it’s part of a creative constraint that Delta Rae uniquely deals with and I find it really exciting and thrilling as a writer. I love writing for Brittany and Liz, but it’s also a point of anxiety because you never know what’s going to happen with your song.”

You can hear Delta Rae’s incredible harmonies with Liz singing lead on their new single, “No Peace In Quiet.”
