(AUDIO) DELTA RAE’S VISION OF THE BAND DICTATES THEIR SONG CHOICES

With six members of Delta Rae, picking which songs to record through a democratic process might seem like a challenge, but really, it all comes down to knowing who they are as a band and what they want their music to sound like.  Brittany says, “We’ve actually been struggling with that I think over the past seven years – what is a Delta Rae song? And we had a pretty wide scope of what would be a Delta Rae song in the past and we kind of sang and played whatever came to us in that moment and followed the muses wherever they took us. But these days a Delta Rae song I think really has to tell a good story (and) have a Southern flair.”

For their Long And Happy Life EP, they wrote over 70 songs, and then chose the cream of the crop of the songs, which Brittany says, “really distilled our vision for this band and showed our roots and showed the direction that we want to move going forward,” and recorded them, including their powerful latest single, “No Peace In Quiet.”
