When you listen to Dierks Bentley’s music, there are elements of his songs that reflect his life and where he’s at. But rather than writing a song that says ‘I’m a husband with three kids,’ Dierks prefers to write with a little more finesse and ambiguity.

“Yeah, I don’t think my music’s changed to reflect like being married or having kids. I think it just, it forces you if you want to continue down the road of writing your own songs, you gotta find deeper stuff to write about. You know, you gotta go to different places. See, I think this forces you to become a better writer, you know. I don’t want to write songs about kids or stuff like that. Yeah, hopefully it’s always there, but kind of in an ambiguous, abstract way, it’s not so straightforward.”
