current single: “AMERICAN GIRL” (from Petty Country tribute album)
There’s a moment in Dierks Bentley’s live shows when he sings his song “I Hold On,” which talks about holding onto the things that matter the most, like “my faith, your love, our freedom,” and he uses that moment to proudly display the American flag and honor those who have defended that flag and everything it stands for, like his late father.
Dierks Bentley – honoring military :21
“My dad was a second lieutenant in the Army. It’s amazing how he served in World War II in Japan, but I know for him what a feeling it must be that I’ll never know to put on the uniform, American flag patch on your shoulder, and you’re out there literally fighting for the flag, fighting for your brothers next to you and everyone back home. So just something we can never really honestly have a sense of how that feels, but certainly we can honor them.”
