current single: “AMERICAN GIRL” (from Petty Country tribute album)
Dierks Bentley recently launched his own whiskey called Row 94. It’s a 94-proof Kentucky bourbon that’s been aged for four years in white oak barrels. According to the makers of Row 94, it has “Heavy notes of vanilla and toffee to start with subtle green apple flavor underneath. The flavor finishes with plenty of mouthfeel and hints of honey and tobacco.” Dierks was heavily involved in the making of Row 94, so we wondered if he was able to pick out all those subtle notes in his own whiskey.
Dierks Bentley – doesn’t know tasting notes :30
“I have no idea what it tastes like. I mean, I’ll just be straight honest. To me, it’s like either good or bad. To me, it just tastes smooth, has a nice kick to it, smells good, and I know that it’s a four-year-old whiskey. It’s not blended. I’m not trying to hide a young whiskey in there. I can tell you when it tastes bad. I can tell you when it’s been like rapid-aged. But I taste the smoothness, but also I can tell it’s got quite a bit more proof than like the Jim Beam I used to drink as a kid. But I’d venture to say most celebrities, when they start talking about tasting notes are completely just out of their mind B.S.-ing you because that’s a real skill.
