NOW STREAMING: “Don’t Mess with Exes”
Mackenzie Carpenter is a huge Dolly Parton fan. She even name checked her in her debut song, “Can’t Nobody,” when she’s listing off people who are the best at what they do, and she sings, “Can’t nobody write a song like Dolly.” So when Mackenzie recently posted a picture of herself with Dolly Parton, Tiera and several other people, and revealed that she got to not only meet Dolly, but work with her, we had to get Mackenzie’s take on the whole experience.
Mackenzie Carpenter – meeting Dolly :42
“So, yes, I got to meet the one and only Dolly Parton. Basically, I got to be in a music video with her and Dionne Warwick. So, not just one legend but two. It was for their new song, “Peace Like a River,” and me and Tiera got to be in it together. And, I mean, she’s freaking beauty, she’s grace, she’s Miss United States. Like, where else can we go with this? She’s in there in her like, 17 inch stilettos, her full rhinestone outfit, and she’s just like a queen. You know, she’s truly a country queen, and she is just like I thought she would be. She’s crackin’ jokes, she’s keepin’ everybody in line, she’s doing everything she wants to do and getting her point across in the most tasteful way. And it was really, really cool and special to see.”
Mackenzie was part of the six-person choir that sang background vocals for Dolly Parton and Dionne Warwick in the video for their new gospel duet, “Peace Like A River.”
