(AUDIO) Drake White Believes In Writing His Truth

When you listen to Drake White’s music, like his brand new single, “It Feels Good,” chances are you will hear a slice of his life or a story about one of his life experiences. Drake started writing songs pretty early, and then got more serious about it when he was in high school and college, and he says, “I write what I know. I could literally go to a fantasyland of thinkin’ up a song about a dragon, doing’ that kinda thing, but all my favorite songs to write are the story songs that are gonna speak to the people.”

At the same time, just because Drake is a simple guy from rural Alabama, that doesn’t mean all his songs are going to be about a Southern guy sitting in a rockin’ chair. He says, “It can be a guy in New York City sittin’ in an 11th floor cubicle, and it’s just the way you say it.”

“Writing very early on, and then as I got into college, high school, college, I really started some of my first songs that are heard now in my album. But, I write what I know. I could literally go to a fantasyland of thinkin’ up a song about a dragon, doing’ that kinda thing, but all my favorite songs to write are the story songs that are gonna speak to the people. It doesn’t have to be a southern guy sittin’ in a rockin’ chair. It can be a guy in New York City sittin’ in an 11th floor cubicle, and it’s just the way you say it.”
