(AUDIO) DRAKE WHITE FOCUSES ON KINDNESS, SELF-LOVE AND AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

If you ever spend any time around Drake White, you’ll quickly learn that he is a very positive guy who lives with an attitude of gratitude.  Drake says, “This is a frustrating life if you let it be frustrating. It’s a frustrating business but I’ve learned to keep your head down and not let anything bother you. Just don’t let stuff bother you.”

Drake’s positive attitude doesn’t just apply to his own life.  He believes you should extend kindness to other and “give people the benefit of the doubt.”  He also remembers the lesson from his parents and his grandparents that “you meet the same people on the way up as you do on the way down. Treat others the way you want to be treated.”  Drake says, “You can live your life by that one rule and be just fine.”

Drake, whose latest single is “Makin’ Me Look Good Again,” also believes an important key to living a happy life is remembering that social media is not necessarily reality and we shouldn’t try to compare ourselves to other people.  He says, “If you get inside your head you die. That’s for me like … you’ll ask yourself a million questions.  Am I good enough, or is this good enough, or is she good enough, or was I good enough, or I wonder what they thought here? Am I fat? Am I this, am I that? Who cares?  Social networking is a snapshot of people’s like, highlight reel. That’s why I like, I encourage people, to disconnect.”

Drake is grateful for social media and how it has been a useful tool in his career, but he just cautions getting too caught up in any of it.

Drake White – attitude of gratitude  1:02

“This is a frustrating life if you let it be frustrating. It’s a frustrating business but I’ve learned to keep your head down and not let anything bother you. Just don’t let stuff bother you. Give people the benefit of the doubt. That’s key. If you get inside your head you die. That’s for me like you’ll ask yourself a million questions Am I good enough, or is this good enough, or is she good enough, or was I good enough, or I wonder what they thought here? Am I fat? Am I this, am I that? Who cares?  Social networking is a snapshot of people’s like, highlight reel. That’s why I like, I encourage people to disconnect. Social networking has been great to me but it’s disconnecting and I think through my spiritual beliefs and just my upbringing with my parents and my grandfather, you know, it was just always, you meet the same people on the way up as you do on the way down. Treat others the way you want to be treated. You can live your life by that one rule and be just fine.”
